This is primarily for the benefit of Jim Cummings to show the upper and lower pipes between the manifolds and the mufflers. The part number for the upper pipe is 01-0724-001 for earlier models, and 014-0724-001 for a 1984 Model 10. The lower pipe is 01-0724-002, and 054-0726-010. There is a gasket between the two pipes, and if the joint is solid, it is probably best to leave it alone. To take the two pipes off together just requires taking off the band clamp at the manifold, and the muffler clamp at the bottom. If everything is out of the A/C compartment, it will be a lot easier on the passenger side. The driver side will probably require hatch access from the floor.

Since you had a problem with the fitting at the manifold, I wonder if it was caused by the exhaust being bumped from below, or a loose muffler pipe support that put most of the support load on the band clamp. The whole system from manifold to the tailpipe is just supported by these two points.

Walter,
Thank you so much for all of your help regarding this. I've totally replaced the right side, utilizing your parts.....and plan on pulling the radiator on the left to get at that one. I'll also attempt to fix some other leaking issues there while its apart.
    I'll keep you informed.

Thanks again,
Jim

Jim,
Unless you are taking out the radiator for other reasons, you might not have to in order to change the pipes. Once the muffler is out, there is room to get the pipes back on, provided the coach is jacked up enough to give you elbow room. How did the welding work out on the pipes?

I believe you on the access from the bottom and top Walter, but I've done that to this point and it is just too difficult for me by myself. It just is. Besides, there are a number of inaccessible oil leaks that have to be addressed. I don't WANT to take the radiator out, but am simply out of options. Good news is, I accomplished the full replacement of the right side alone.....and it's tight. The bottom half of the pipe on my original one was uncracked, so I replaced the one from you with a new gasket and switched pipe. it sounds and looks good. Onward to the other side (once I fix a couple of recent new problems. As you know.....it never ends.
