Looking for the part number for the air filter in a Mann Filter Housing. 1966 Model 1. Eagle part # or Cross reference will probably work Current filter is missing the inner seal and numbers on the filter are no longer there. Thanks for all of the help. We finally have our Eagle. AdamP

The only listing for a Mann filter that I can find in my older manuals is one dated 1969. The illustration shows a round filter with Mann numbers only (no Eagle number). The air intake system is listed as 6101-6918, and the air cleaner is listed as DBD 07-110. That does not show as a current Mann filter on the listings that I have. Take a picture of your old filter and measure it in detail, there might be a filter with another number that will fit. You may have to explore using a different filter housing such as the Donaldson ECO series, which is the housing and filter in one. There is nothing sacred about using the original setup, you won't be entering a car show and have points taken off because you used non-original parts. Use what fits the space you have and make sure the flow capacity is the same or greater.

So I tracked down a bunch of information and made my decision based on an email from Mann Filters. I was able to locate a picture of the Mann Filter Assembly with the Eagle part numbers. What helped me was that I thought the P18490 part number was a Donaldson part number, Come to find out it was a Nelson Filter number. Looking at the part picture i noticed that the gasket was sold separately. So when you cross the Nelson number you get a Wix 42490 (no gasket). I crossed the dimensions of the Wix 4290 in the Mann web site and came up with a Mann C 35 1592, used in Volvo trucks and buses. So I like to support my locally owned businesses and they stock Baldwin Filters. So a little more research and I have landed on a Baldwin PA2774. Before the Email from Mann Filters I was going to go with the Baldwin PA1706 however the gasket on the PA2774 more closely matches the one on the Mann filter. One last note using the formula from the Donaldson website my 8V-71 requires a 966 cfm air filter at 2100 rpm's and it goes up to 1058 at 2300 rpms. the PA2774 is rated at 1074 cfm. I have been doing this research remotely because I work out of town in the Northwest of Alaska. I will try and add more later when I return home for Rest and Relaxation. R&R.
