Engine Swap Videos

We have several small clips of the engine swap. Had to do it this way because this process took about a week. Was hoping to be able to post these four categories as a slideshow but Photobucket has changed their format and it just won't play that way (sorry).

1st segment is Eric's engine coming out:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q52/ ... 0Part%201/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

2nd segment is my engine coming out:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q52/ ... 0Part%202/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

3rd segment is my new engine going in:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q52/ ... 0Part%203/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

4th segment is my new engine running and fond farewells:
http://s133.photobucket.com/albums/q52/ ... 0Part%204/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Again...LOADS of thanks to Eric and Gary!!!

Rear Suspension

When we got back from the Engine Swap @ Eric's I had another unexpected project. The clamp that holds the shackle on the rear passenger side apparently had broken in half on our way home. I discovered this on my post-trip inspection. I knew they eventually would have to be replaced but this kind of forced the issue. We went ahead and replaced all four. THAT WAS A JOB! Those shackles had been in there for YEARS. The nuts and bolts were rusted together and they did NOT WANT TO COME OUT! It took DAYS to heat them and beat them out of there. If you notice, we had to cut the top of the bracket that holds the shackles to get to the bolts. I'm told this is one of the toughest jobs to do on these Eagles. Well, now they're done, hopefully for a long, LONG time. We bought all new nuts and bolts from Jefferson.

Brings a smile to see these!! Hard work but we had fun!! Best part was the look on Mannys face when Gary gulped his tea. Gary didnt know the chili was that hot!!! If all goes well, I hope to put an engine back in the bus for the last time tommorrow!! You and Gary are welcome to assist, after all you both have done this before!!

We probably should have had a video camera set up to run non-stop instead of these small clips that I took with our little camera, but that would have been hard to edit and post. At least I caught some special moments of that week. Manny smiled, too, as he was watching them. He still can't believe he took on that challenge and you all made it happen in one week! Beyond the fact of the engine swap, Manny said a special bond of friendship took place that week. We'll never forget it, or you guys. Thank you (Eric and Karen) for making us feel so welcome and putting up w/us that week. Thank you for giving our bus new life again, it wants to fly now! Manny is so happy! And Gary, how can we ever thank you, and your sweet wife for being without a hubby that week? Hope you know how special you all are to us. Thanks again :0) Darlene

(Manny's burning the midnight oil, but he'll be chiming in on this post, too, lol.)

Me thinks y'all need to plan a trip out west next July to help me with our swap, since experience trumps busted knuckles! :lol:

Great job and it will be something to share over a campfire on a cold evening while drinking hot chocolate! ;)

I try to stay away from the Hot things from now on, Manny will be glad about that.

Darlene, good job at posting the videos, brought back good memories and we had a good time as well. Oh yea, too bad you didn't get video of me and Eric's cow in the pasture. It was not what you are thinking guys.

Enjoy your bus you guys.

Aww Gary, that would have been a sad video clip for sure. I keep asking Eric how Norma Jean is, but he's not answered me, so I'm wondering if she didn't make it :( Eric if you read this, and Norma Jean IS ok, please post her pic in a reply. I would sure love to see her. Darlene

Paul, I would love to go and help. I posted these videos with you in mind so you get a glimpse of what is ahead for you. It was not that bad, but I would not do it in July, at least not here because of the heat.

We will do the swap in Vancouver, WA. Plan to be up there for at least 6 months or more. The weather is not as bad as Texas during that time of the year, this year was horrific in the Lone Star State!

I can't wait to get my hands dirty and jump into all the fun you guys had. 8-)
