First let me start by saying I am overly impressed by all the Eagles on here. I am sure ours will never measure up. We were faced with a challenge in this economy...He was laid off a while back, I'm getting laid off end of August. We decided to spend our savings and time on this project to cover a few needs and wants. We have always wanted to own a bus and given the current situation, figured...."why not now?". So we are giving it our best effort and will need advice and help from all of you out there.

We plan to post our full remodel as we do it. Any advice would be great. We are working on a budget, so please dont expect ours to look like yours ANY time soon.

Day one (six hours in) into the remodel, we found mold :o in the back wall....so, tore it all out to metal, pulled the old ceiling and found the origonal "Trailways" carpeting....lol.

First of all Welcome!

We've been working on ours almost 7 years, it takes time. As you see by our project thread, it's not the purtiest Eagle on the block as we are on a budget also. I got laid off a year ago this past May, so I do know what you are going through.

It's all about what you want and of course what you can afford.

Glad to see another 01 to grace our pages, not many of us around!

Enjoy the journey, it's not about the destination.

Have fun and most of all "Be Happy"!

Welcome to the family! I'm glad to see you jumping right in to starting your Project thread. I look forward to watching you redo your bus. I think most all of us are on budgets these days. You are a long way ahead of a lot of us. But you have definitely found the right place for answers and help here. I've very proud of the collection of Eagle knowledge of our members. And we are glad to have you here with us.

Looks good from here--and apparently we're all the same. . .we all start at the beginning! You've got a good looking coach there and I'll bet we'll see it on the road before you know it. As with everyone else, ask away for any questions you have and we'll look forward to pics of the progress.

Much fun--and few injuries in the process.

LOL.....I had my first "while we're at it" moment yesterday. It ended up costing an extra $300 so far.

We tore out the back wall, with intention on keeping the cabinets to refinish them. They weren't as easy to get out as I thought. We damaged them, so ...new cabinets will be coming(that isn't included in the $300). We got up the first layer (underlayment) and ended up doing the whole back half of the bus(the while we're at it moment). It will cost alot more to re-do the whole back half, but what the heck, right??? LOL. It has already started. We are $400 over our anticipated budget at this point. I see now that my origonal estimate DID NOT include all of those "while we're at it" moments.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try to keep my urges in check.
Will put up more pics next week. Gonna push through the weekend and see what we can accomplish.

side note: I didn't realize how uneven the floors were until yesterday----another big expense.....its all good.

About 20 hours in now. We got the underlayment done in the bedroom, new ceiling up, floor boards down and decided to try to salvage the cabinets due to cost at this point. We will replace them later when we can afford the extra cost. We put up new fabric on the corners and trimmed it out. Pictures I took don't do it justice. I am proud of what we've done so far considering we don't have a clue...lol.
