KENTUCKY WEATHER

Post by Eagle »

Steve did the wind yesterday blow the tree off your house?
We have another 36000 folks without power here in the Derby city this morning. Have to get up on the roof and replace a few shingles.

Jc,

Sorry to hear about your roof neighbor. I was watching that wicked storm from the window. It didnt blow the tree off of the house, but I was sure thinking the other half of the tree that is leaning over the center of the bus was going to let go. I think we had 65 mile an hour winds with the storm but the 40 mile an hour gust all through the day wasn't much better. Hope you guys faired ok? I have had it with the weather and the storm season ain't even here yet. Calling for snow in the forecast soon. :( One good thing, my number comes up with the tree surgeon this weekend. They will get the tree off of the house as well as cut down the rest of the monster saturday or monday at the latest they say. Had to wait on the bucket truck as I can't reach it with anything I have.

Where's spring???

Unbelievable! What is with the weather our there? That sounds like some storm you guys had. I'm sure you are anxious to get your house, rv, bus and yard back together, KY Steve. I'm ashamed to tell you about our week in the 70's here in FL, but I have a feeling your weather might be an indication of another bad hurricane season for us here in FL. You'd better rethink your plans Eagle, LOL.

Take care out there guys.

That must have been either Donna or Cleo. Manny wasn't living there then but I was. I was very young and quite terrified! None of these storms are fun, that's for sure, but at least with hurricanes you get a warning usually in plenty of time to prepare. These poor people who get hit with a tornado, don't have much of a chance to react.

I'll get that # to you Eagle. Thank you so much for your continued effort to help us. You too KY Steve.

That was Cleo she was a real doozer. I remember listening to the radio and the National weather service said their wind speed meter got blown away.

I remember her well. My parents, sisters and myself went to stay and care for my grandparents who lived in Miami. It seemed like a good idea, going to them instead of trying to move them and all their needed equipment, but from what transpired that night we probably should have evacuated. I'm not sure if they had a clear policy for that back then, but I'm sure one was implemented shortly thereafter. Thank God their home was older and built STRONG, not like they build things today. Their home reminded me of the concrete and coquina buildings they have in St. Augustine. Anyway, large, old trees were snapping outside like toothpicks, so I could relate when KY Steve was telling what he heard that morning the trees were coming down by him. And the wind.....OH MY.......very scary sound to a small child or anyone for that matter. It's something you never completely forget.
