I've got a new Eagle electric air gage. Aside from the light hookup, it has 3 wires going to it (power [red]-black [grn] and sender) without connecting the to the gage, and only connecting the red (power) and ground, the gage goes off scale high. Same when I connect the . Have tried two gage with the same results. Can anybody help out on this? AL
PS. 81 Eagle model 10

Connect the sender to see if it will work.

Hey Paul
It goes off scale high only when the ground is connected. If I leave the ground disconnected and the power and sender connected noting happens. The gage will not work.
Thanks AL

Are you replacing an older gauge? Or is this a new installation? I do know the gauge has to be for the sender type/model number, otherwise it will not work. I'm assuming when you hooked up the power it had 12v, correct? I'm just trying to get a feel for what you did and what is going on . Give all the details you can please. It's pretty hard to troubleshoot electrical without seeing it. Most of the time I've seen gauges that did that it was not grounded, or the wrong sender for the gauge.

Paul the two gauges, I got from Jefferson Truck and are suppost to be the right ones. I don't know.
The power is 12 dcv. The gauge goes off scale,(with the ignition swith on) as soon as I connect the power and the ground wires on the gauge. With or without the sender wire connected. The power wire to the + and the ground to the - and the sender wire to S. This thing has got me baffle. I think what I'll do, is do some wire chasing again.
Thanks AL

Have you checked the sender it's self?
