I love that song! It is from 'GI Blues' with Elvis and Juliet Prowse. From the puppet show scene. Can you tell I am a huge Elvis fan? I have no idea what the German verse says though. I just sorta sing it phonetically when I sing in the show! ;)

Can't you see
I love you
Please don't break my heart in two
That's not hard to do
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
And if you say goodbye
Then I know that I would cry
Maybe I would die
'Cause I don't have a wooden heart
There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start
Treat me nice
Treat me good
Treat me like you really should
'Cause I'm not made of wood
And I don't have a wooden heart

Muss i denn, muss i denn
Zum Stadtele hinaus
Stadtele hinaus
Und du, mein schat, bleibst hier?

There's no strings upon this love of mine
It was always you from the start
Sei mir gut
Sei mir gut
Sei mir wie du wirklich sollst
Wie du wirklich sollst

'Cause I don't have a wooden heart

Interesting.. for anyone who might be interested.

I was trying to figure out the translation of the lyrics of the bridge.
Muss i denn, muss i denn
Zum Stadtele hinaus
Stadtele hinaus
Und du, mein schat, bleibst hier?

What I found is that this is from a very famous folk song written in 1827 by Friedrich Silcher. The translation is:
Must I then, must I then
Go out to town, out to town
And you, my own, stay here

The other part where he sings German in the chorus is just the same as the English version.
Sei mir gut
Sei mir gut
Sei mir wie du wirklich sollst
Wie du wirklich sollst

Treat me nice
Treat me good
Treat me like you really should
'Cause I'm not made of wood

Interesting! I am glad to know this after all these years!

Even more interesting!! Even the tune from Wooden Heart comes from the German folk tune.

Well, believe it or not, I tried. But it did not work. Just could not get a good working copy of it, might be copyright protected or something. But alas, all is not lost.

It can be found on the CD "Oh what a time" by the Gaithers, it is track #13 and the name of the tune is ... "Singing for the bus."

Really cool, see if you can locate a copy.

That's a funny song. He's got a rare bird too! A 1971 Silver Eagle Model 10!

I better add this to my list of Eagle songs. I'm trying to put us together some road music.

Yeppers, that are it! Songman I don't believe there is ANYTHING on the Internet that you cannot find. I tried and tried to find that on Utube, and never did locate it, and then you scrape it up post haste and put it on the board.

My hat is off to you. Now find me some really neat private coach emblems, I need them for the guy at the turnpike booth, he has been buggin me.
