I knew they were pretty worn out, no indexing left on rod, rubber looks rotten and it sits too low. Dan did inform me that Silver Eagle was looking to either have made or refurbish old ones. I know they are not available from everything I've heard.

I have debated to post this for some time because I just don't know what to do. Even if they were available I really don't have the funds at this time to buy them, probably cost as much as I paid for the bus!

I have seen one guy on the net that added air bags to his Eagle, but have never heard how it went, older not updated website. I know Sonnie has them on his tags, I believe that's the only place.

I know this is probably not recomended by anyone, but how can they be added to the rear axle system, leaving the torsion bars on.

I know there would be issues trying to maintain proper air pressure for weight distribution, but I think it can be worked out with valving and gauges and testing the loads on each wheel to find out where the correct pressure is.

It's not something I can do right now, but want to investigate the possibilities for the near furture.

What say you who either have done this or know of someone who has.

There are quite a few Eagles running around with supplimental air. Gary Bennett at B&B Coach has done many installations. I asked him about a year ago about a price, he quoted me 4K for both front and rear. My bus won't fit in his shop, but camping outside is allowed. Dave at Southern Oregon Diesel has also done them, although he told me he will only do air on the rear now. It is not technically hard to do but you must be good at fabricating and welding, especially vertical and overhead. Gary runs the bellow plate completely across the bus for more support on the rear set up, at least on 10's.

A 10 model rear axle could be an option?

Julio, I'll defer that answer to someone more knowledgeable, I would think the size is different, don't know for sure.

I did receive a phone call from Sonnie Gray this morning regarding using air bags on the rear axle, he did do that to his. He is going to get me some photos and a description on what he did, that is when he is able to fix some problems with his new air-card.

We'll see how this plays out. I'm in no hurry, just collecting the necessary information.

Boomer, Thanks for the information, B&B is too far away and I really think I can do the work and save some green. Fabrication is not hard, it's the design that will need some discussion.

We have a member here named Ken Turner. He has an 05 that he has added air bags to as a supplement to the Torsialastics and also for leveling. He signed up a while ago but hasn't posted yet. Paul, How many inches do you need to raise the drives? Does your bus still have both of the lock nuts on the adjustment rods?

Yes, the locknuts are there. I need to raise it at least three inches.
