I was recently helping a fellow with an MCI 5 who was having terrible prime problems. He had changed his filters (sounds like one or both had a sock?) and lost the prime. His problem was made worse by the fact that the fuel tank is in the front of the bus. I recommended two things to make his fuel system bullet proof: an inline electric fuel pump and a Davco FP 382.
We have discussed inline fuel pumps here: http://eagles-international.net/forums/ ... 34&p=29641. The recommended pump is: http://www.amazon.com/Airtex-E8090-Univ ... B000DN7VLK
We have touched on the Fuel Pro in the past, but we really do not have a good thread, so I thought I would start this one. Here is a link to the technical information: http://www.davco.com/FP382.htm
As background information, Detroit Diesel used to send a factory rep to the early Bus Conversion rallies (those were the days

The Fuel Pro replaces both the primary and secondary fuel filters. It is used on many over-the-road trucks. It is both a fuel filter and a water separator.
There are many benefits of the product, but the three main benefits are:
1) You can see the quality of the fuel. If you have air in the line, you will see it. If your fuel has quality issues, you will see it.
2) You will *SEE* when you need to change fuel filters. As the filter is "used up", the fuel level in the glass bowl raises and when it gets to a certain level, it is time to change the filter.
3) It is almost impossible to loose prime when you change the filter. If you do loose prime, it is easy to re-prime the engine by adding fuel to the bowl and starting the engine.
