Since I've had my Eagle the oil pressure gauge would always peg out. One of the times it was in the shop I had them look at it, but they couldn't seem to figure out why it was doing it. We were camping in Jan. with some friends (busnuts, too) and he helped me figure it out. The pressure sender unit had shorted out. He told me about a website where I could order a new one (http://egauges.com/) Just got it today and installed it as soon as I got home. It seems to be working great, but what should the oil pressure be reading when my bus is idling and also when I am driving?

I also have a Kubota generator and that gauge was doing the same thing, so I replaced it as well. It is a 4 cyl., and the engine block reads 1861cc. Does anyone know what the oil pressure on that should be?

Both of these gauges are VDO.

My 8-71 runs about 10 psi at idle and 25-30 at speed. I think that is what is considered normal. Engine has app 20k on rebuild.

Thanks Ericbsc I will drive the bus tomorrow so I will see where the oil pressure is at while driving.

Manny, Ours runs about 15 psi at idle and 40-45 at full speed. Age and miles on it, you gotta be kidding! (Unknown)

Drove the Eagle back to where I store it and the psi read 20 at 55mph I hope that is good if not let me know.

Manny, check your gauge with the manual in the rear at the same rpm sounds likes your a little off. most will idle 5-10 lbs when hot and run about 30 to 40 lbs at 1200 rpm and about 50 to 60 lbs at 2100 rpm nothing to worry about but with a liittle work you can have both gauges reading the same good luck

Clifford, can you please explain what you mean by "check you gauge with the manual in the rear" I'm sorry, I'm a bit lost. I only drove the bus about 7 or 8 miles, and I was only able to get it up to 55 mph for a mile or two, the rest was about 35 miles an hour. Don't know if that would make a difference or not, but please write back and explain. Thanks.

What Clifford meant was to compare your readings between the front electrical guage and the rear mechanical (manual) guage. Most intercity coaches have mechanical water temp and oil pressure guages mounted in the engine compartment, and are usually much more accurate than the front guages. Maybe yours have been removed. If so, it is a cheap and important feature to add.

Ok, that's what I thought, just wanted to be sure.. Thanks Boomer. I do have a gauge in the rear, and I checked it when I first installed the new one and my bus was idling. It was reading the same as in the front, but I only checked it that one time. I'll try to check it more this weekend. We're suppose to be heading out on a weekend trip in a few weeks. I'll be able to REALLY check it then.

Manny, when you get the bus up to temp after driving have Darlene hold the throttle on 1500 rpms and compare the 2 if they are not the same I can tell you how to adjust the front gauge to read mine runs on 40# at 55mph. FWIW I removed the original Dixson speedometer Tue from a 05 I have and that serial number does match the one on the frame you are on to something there I found the # on the fuel gauge also thanks never thought about looking there.Now with Norris giving you the brake shoe size that will be your next project upgrading to bigger shoes and drums LOL good luck
