Also, the rod and main bearings on a 71 will last till overhaul, or until something else requires a teardown. 92 rod and mains should be changed in the 100,000 range to be safe. When I ran 92's in MC-9's we changed them at 100K just as preventitive maintenance. A bearing kit and less than a days labor is cheap. The 8V71TA is a sweet, sweet engine. Loved ours. Just one gray beard's opinion.

Any current sources for NJT Eagle 20 radiators or re-cores? Thanks, Michael

Michael-

Whereabouts are you at? If you're in the So Cal area near LA, Atlas Radiator (I think they're in Industry or Montebello) can do a re-core. We did ours about two years ago and it needed a re-core (it weighed about 200 pounds and the inside looked like cement) and we got outta there for about $800. We removed the radiator and took it in. . .it took them about a week to complete.

I haven't spoken to him lately, but I heard Gilbert had pretty much sold everything. I was hoping to get to see his double decker Eagle project one of these days.

huh! bad news for me :(

I think this one and the auto transmission from Mark could have been a good combination for our 01, our 8V71 is strong and no leaks but I need more power and an auto transmision for the wife, she says that the 01 is her bus :o :o , at least I have the 05 for me.

Anyway, thanks.

Julio,

I don't think this engine has been sold, but I will check with Gilbert to find out for sure and get back to you.
