Your favorite biker type dude here with some long over due updates. To get started, we were afforded the opportunity to bring our bird home to Boulder City,NV. After a week of pondering a battle plan, and picking the tasks I would feel comfortable with, I went to work. First and foremost was to tackle the leaks
Once that was taken care of, the first thing I took off after was installing the visor that was donated by Art and Cindy and as you can clearly see in the photo really compliments the overall visuals of the front of our 15. man! I love it , the way it flows off the front cap, thanks you two!
Next, after some horse trading with Clifford and Sonja, we now have an awning to be installed on the beastie, so with out hesitation, and by myself, the main awning along with the smaller window awning went up as advertised.
Next on the hit list, the task I wanted done from the very beginning, the front door(s) As many of you know, double doors just don't cut the mustard, so down they came. I had found a place that supplied SS piano hinges here in Vegas and bought the appropriate sized one for the application,but I was worried about the wear factor on the hinge over the course of a few years or more and really did not want to have to do this again, so change in plan. I have spent quite some time in my 20's and 30's as a commercial locksmith back in N.Y.C and decided on a different approach, 3 seperate polished SS ball bearing hinges. I liked the way I was able to get them tucked in close, and leaving very little for the wind to whistle through,the hinges capable of supporting 85 pounds ea did the trick.A very happy camper I am for sure
.I decided on not putting any handles what so ever on the outside, again, to eliminate any wind noise. Next a lock, for securing the door when away, this was easier than I thought. See we already had two cam lock dead bolts(one on each door) so there was no reason to change it out as it was perfect the way it was, what was needed was a latch lock,so the door could be secured when closed, surface mount latch lock(inside) and a flush mount rim style cylinder for the outside. this was the ideal set up to use in my opinion, cause there is no reason for over kill in this area, if some punk wants to get in, I would preffer the glass to be taken out rather than to have the door mangled up and destroyed.
As you can see in the pix, there is hardly any trace of a lot of hardware on the door
Also poking around, I found some very nice captains chairs,1 for the king and one for the Queenie
had already rebuilt the air ride pedestal,so's... mine went in first
, now have to build a swivel pedestal for Cheryl.
We havin' fun yet? I know I have been. another score was when my host(Paul Pilgram) took a shining to my Onan5.5 gas genny,said how much he admired them and wished he had one, so...I gave it to him.I know that they were the main stay for the RV industry back in the day, and this one was no accession, other than a simple fuel delivery issue. Well one morning I arrived at the bus to start my usual happy filled day of labor,and low and behold there was a Honda Em5000 genny sitting out side the door waiting like a happy little puppy waiting to play,so now we have a generator that will run both my AC's at the same time
WOO HOO! AC!
this will be our back up generator when we can afford a diesel.

by the way it has been about almost 2,000mi since the engine swap, so far so good, I have noticed an increase in the black smoke when putting my foot into it where as at first there was just a slight hint of smoke doing the same,guess the injectors are starting to clean up, power is up a little too.

just found the Ebay ad that led me to our eagle. I guess this is as much a part of our bus's history, well actually the begining so I might as well add this to our project thread
