This is a public forum. This forum will be a place to show your Project Eagle and updates on progress you have made. Please make one thread with your project and put all updates in the same thread. Sorry... Eagles only.

Hello Everyone,
I just added a photo of our 1990 Eagle Model 15 that we bought back in June this year. The bus I think was a gift from God for us. I went to Nashville to look at another bus we thought we wanted, but as it turned out the pictures made it look so wonderful we took a plane ride up there to maybe buy it and drive it home. Well it turned out it needed a clutch put in and you had to prime it each time it was shut down. So I started thinking I had better think about this issue. And about that time the wife came back out of the bus and told me come to look inside, so I knew there would be more to think about. I stepped up inside and it was pretty ragged out from years of use and neglect.
So we tried to back the bus out side of the garage and it did not want to move, so the guy kept on until he got it to move. I just did not have a real good feeling about it by this time. I know my skills and what I can do when i set my mind to it. So we talked for a little bit and I made him an offer, so he went to his wife and came back with the counter offer. By that time I was not looking forward to putting in a clutch and replacing fuel lines before i could start home. So i told him you have my number we will go back to Nashville and get a hotel and get some rest, and if he wanted what I offered to give me a call, and I am so happy that he did not call. We got in the motel and my son came over and I ask him if there were any buses on 31w just north of the motel, and he said he would check on his way back home and call me back.
after he left about 10 minutes I got a call and he said there were some big nice motor homes out front, and some other things in the back but to dark to see from the road, I told him I would check them out on the way to his house the next morning. As we arrived we saw many buses in the back of the lot, so we just took a look at a few and boy they were all out of the budget at that point. We saw Nichole and Mike the sales guy said to me what do you think? I said not real sure right now thinking I did not have the kind of money to spend that was on the price tag, and said that to him. He said make an offer and I will call the guy. So I made an offer that was half the asking price, and he OK all we can do it tell him and see what he will say. He went to the office and made the calls and sent email to the man.
He came back and said what he had done, but he was unable to reach him . So I said we will go to my Son's home and have Breakfast, and if he has any news call me. so I told him take us back to the car and will talk later. Just as he stopped the cart his phone rang, and he was mumbling something and ok , ok ,ok so we waved by by to him, and he hung up the phone and said, He'll take it if you do the deal today!
So the rest is history until now. and the work of changing some things around, adding a few things, and some very light paint work on the outside. The bus had been mostly redone by the guy who had it before me. This right now is not much compared to some have done here.
I will post more photos and progress as time goes on.

Quite a story about finding your dream bus! 8-) I'm glad things worked out for you so you can start to enjoy your new toy sooner, than later.

Can you give us some details, engine, tranny etc.!

Congratulations!

Thanks guys its good to get the welcomes and feed back on things. If you can get to the photobucket there is a photo of the tag on the engine. From talking to a guy at DD he looked it up and tells me it is the German Detroit engine with the ZF automatic transmission. I believe its a 4 speed trans.
The engine is supposed to be 350HP and able to turn it up some, but it runs good and mileage seems to be good at this point. I always say if it ain't broke, don't fix it. I know on the trip back home it was no problem to peg out the speedo, but I tried to keep it around 65 and 70. I will be posting a list of things I want to do in the coming days.

As for Paul's question
Eng. 6V92TA :) :
ZF Automatic Trans. ;)
Jake Brake not working?
Cruise Control not working?
500,700 Miles on Speedo. I think it may be right. Was 1000 miles to bring it home. :|
Rubber is 1/4 used and no caps. :!:
I think it is a model 15 40Ft. 2 axle unit with factory conversion on that part. :?:
Clifford seems to think it has raised roof of 8" he may be right.
11R 24.5 wheels aluminum polished. :D
Got to make slobber can. :P
Got to repair some areas where the paint was peeling off, and others places when the driver thought it would fit into somewhere it would not go. not many places. I would like to paint more silver on the front of the bus so it looks more like an Eagle, It came this way, so I will keep the slick sides for now, but I always loved the siding on the door areas, but it would cost a lot to put it back on there. So I am not sure where I will go with that part just yet. :?
It had the LED lights all around the bus when I got it, that is a Plus. :D
Most of the things inside are just like new, I just will have to modify some things later on.
There was not much paper work or manuals with it to many owners that did not keep up with it. :(

So as you can see, I have just talked about the things off the top of my head without see the list we made and it's on the bus right now. I sure will be asking a few questions as we go long I know there are some pretty smart fellers on here with many years of Eagle life and surely did learn some on the way as I will have to do, I just want to retire, and get out there. I will make photos of the top to the bottom so everyone can monitor the slow progress, as still working 45+ hrs every week, plus the wife's list so thats why I say slow process. I hope you all keep it coming and will see where it will go.

Clifford if you can remember where you saw some rust let me know I looked it over as good a possible with out having a good place to get under the old girl. But I will as soon as I can.

I hope to out there and meet all you when the time is right.

Roger

I have a list we made on the way home of things I wanted to take care of as I got around to it, and check it off the list.

It is not a German 6v92 no such thing the ZF was German they had a place in Houston Tx you see a lot of the Houston Metro buses with the ZF transmission Look at the rear on passengers side you will see the loose rivets unless it has been repaired

Yes, it did have some that we're loose I went up and down both sides and replaced all that we're bad loose or otherwise. Yes I know this engine was an American one but if you look at the tag I the PB it is in another language . I still have to secure the plate under the frame in the tag hole. Are you in Florida ? If so maybe we will cross paths one day and chat about some of these things.
