1970 Model ? - DavidO
Here are the specs:
1970 Silver Eagle
Model 05? (I don't know, please tell me. Something said 40, but that doesn't read right with anything else on the forums. A friend thinks a 07 from looking online, but it's a guess. I think a 05 from here: http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/28 ... 2121ZpafgG" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
VIN 8284
Detroit Diesel, specific model? 8v92 or 8v71? Supercharged I think.
Voith 4-speed manual with new clutch (12/10)
New Dunlops (12/10) on 24.5 Alcoas
15KW Onan
100 gal freshwater
100 gallon diesel tank
not sure on size of gray/blackwater but there's only one waste tank.
Interior is dated (Southwest/Miami teal/peach color scheme) but in decent shape. Lots of to-do items with it, but we're working through it. I'll be posting lots of questions.
Photos here (adding more): http://tinyurl.com/1970silvereagle" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: 1970 Model ? - DavidO
According to the information I have it's a 1970 Model 05.
I looked at your pictures and I think you have an 8V71N, meaning no turbo. Typically we use the word "Blower", supercharger is for hot rods.
She looks pretty good for a '70. I'm sure you will find lots of things to tinker with, as we all do.

Clifford, I did find the generator on his picture. Now I know what it looks like. Still need to call Don F. and see if he has one. Thanks!

Thanks. We're really happy to be able to buy one.

Re: 1970 Model ? - DavidO
Finally spent a weekend working on the coach. Started down the long road to recovery on the interior.
Was this...
It started with removing the entertainment center. Then one thing lead to another and now it's this...
Say a little prayer for me.
The entertainment center is now gone and all of it's terrible wiring with it. Not to mention all of the 1980s home electronics. It actually had a VCR rewinder in there. I hope this doesn't hit too close to home for anyone else.
I now want a driver side angle window. Also looking to replace all of the windows with sliders/screens/tinted, it was HOT in there!
The dash is all torn apart. I'll be getting rid of the old parts, at least the right hand side top and front... as soon as I can figure out how to disconnect the mystery cable that runs through it. Haven't dug underneath yet, don't even know where it goes.
Curious if anyone knows what this black unit is. I haven't traced the lines yet, is it AC, or just heat? If it's just heat, can I replace it with one that has AC also?
Got the furniture unbolted, but didn't have time to get the carpet out, that's next.
Overall, I was really happy with the progress. Would have gone faster if I could have moved everything outside, but it was raining. I learned a lot by being able to spend some time taking it apart. "So what's behind door #3?"
Looking forward to getting more done soon. We're trying to finalize all of the materials for the build-out. So far plans include:
- Custom front cabinet with granite counter top on passenger dash
- Recovered vintage heartwood pine floor in the entry/steps
- King Ranch colored leather driver and passenger seats
- Repainted kitchen cabinets with granite counter top and mirror/bronze back splash
- New ceiling panels & AC units
- Lots of LED lighting
- New windows, wallpaper, and flooring.
All for now!

Question about the insulation.
Should I remove the plywood and replace all of the pink fiber insulation with spray foam while I have it this far apart already?

David, I highly recommend insulating your firewall behind the dash while you have it out. I would re wire the lights up there with new ones too. In the winter the front drivers area in ours would be like an ice box until I insulated it. I would also be very careful pulling existing wires in that area too. If you have a doubt they may become an issue..I would replace...Just some friendly advice..I have been there..I would be careful tearing too much out at once..Take one section at a time and complete it..At least you will see progress rather than keep thinking of the 1001 things you will need to do in the whole bus..

David, it sounds like you are leaving some of the interior intact. If that is the case, it will be very hard to have the bus insulation sprayed. It is very messy - both in installation and shaving.
Unless you are completely gutting the interior, I would use a good foam board type insulation. Not quite as good as urethane, but a whole lot better than your terrible used fiberglass.
