Paul,
I finally found time to do a little research on the history of my conversion. Some years BC (that is Before Cummins), I was advised to paint my 8-71 as it was looking pretty shabby at the time. I was told to use Rustoleum Hi Temp paint. I was told one of the standard colors, called Alpine Green, was the same as the original DD color. I used it and found it a perfect match.
Thought you might find this useful.

Here is a pic of the Allison. Had it Dyno tested at Pacific Power and it checked out OK, no leaks! ;)

I'm almost finished with the double oil cooler installation. That turned out to be a fun learning project!

I am going to pull out the old DD this Thursday and swap a few parts of the old motor to put on the new one.

You can follow along with the pictures I'm posting in Photobucket here:

The shims are in place, just need to finish it up tomorrow. Need to go get a couple of 5/16" bolts, one was broken and the other was replaced with all thread. I remembered your comment on the shims and it stuck! ;)

Thanks Sonnie! The condition of the cooler was fantastic! I appreciate it! 8-)
