Dreamscape 1968 Eagle 01

Post by Dreamscape »

I had a lot more pictures but unfortunatley my computer crashed a couple of years ago.

I purchased our Eagle in 2003, and have enjoyed working on it ever since. I drove it from Shelby Ohio to Burbank CA, with my daughter as my co-pilot. We had a great experience on the long journey.

When my wife and I decided to move from SoCal to Abilene TX to take care of her aging parents, I broke down in Palm Springs, lost my air compressor. I did not have my computer with me so Becky posted an SOS on the MAK Board.

After some phone calls I received from Sonnie Gray, Pete Smith and others I was able to replace the compressor with one that Clifford and Sonja brought to me. This allowed me to make it to Abilene for Christmas in 2006. Saved by Bus Angels!

Our Eagle was the last 01 made by Silver Eagle, #7443. Purchased new by The Dixie Echoes southern gospel group in Florida. It was made in Belgium and arrived at the port in New Orleans. The group is still singing today. I have been very fortunate to have corresponded with one of the original members son, and he has sent me some early photos. They are on the webshots site.

As you can tell by the photos Dreamscape has gone through some changes over the years. I really wish it still had the original look, but it is what it is.

Happy Trails,

Paul and Becky Lawry

I just finished installing my new AD9 air dryer. :D

Well almost, need to wire up the heater, will save that for tomorrow.

Fired the ole trusty DD up and let it air up, waited for govenor cut off, Dryer purged right on time, fanned brakes and did this a couple of more times before I shut it down to check for leaks. Did not find any, so life is good. 8-)

I have had this thing for about a year, some downtime from work past couple of weeks, so it was a good time to finally GET TO IT!

I went to several suppliers here in Abilene to collect the necessary DOT nylon tubing and fittings. NAPA did not have anything! It took longer to get the parts then to install them!

I feel better now that I will have dry air, now I just need to finish the brake chamber job.

I just added a bunch of photos in the webshots link. But here's one showing the installation location.

Now before anyone gives me a hard time :D , it will never look as good as some of your beautiful Eagles. I'm proud of it just the same. It has been a dream of mine since I was in my twenties to own one, just wish it had not taken so long to realize my dream. Hence the name Dreamscape. Better late than never, right!

Paul,

I do like the bigger pics :D ;) But I was saying to put up more pics    Good timing though Paul I have been thinking about the dryer to put in my mounting plates. Your mount up looks pretty darn good there buddy. Im guessing you mounted that dryer in front of the main radiator??? Did those brackets com with the dryer. And did you get a plumbing scymatic with the new dryer??? Good Job Paul and keep posting the new pics (or bigger    pics) here, or to your web site.

Steve,

I mounted the dryer in the old AC compressor area, passenger side. There was a bracket with three holes in it, so I mounted it there.

The brackets that the dryer mounts on, upper and lower, came with the unit.

It also came with complete instructions on wiring and plumbing. You can also look at the Bendix site. https://www.bendix.com/EN-US/SERVICE/LI ... heets.aspx

Just go down to AD-9 Dryer 4/08. I would have just posted that link, but thought the complete library that has a lot of information you might be interested in. ;)

If we had a Link Library on the site here where we could post all of our favorites it would be neat. I'm sure everyone has their own though.

HTH,

Paul,

I finally found those pics of the brake canisters on the drive axel. I have to go back to the shop now, but this evening I will be determined to teach myself how to resize and post pics to put them up on your other topic about the brakes. Maybe I can learn something about the brakes with you. :D :D :? :?

Oops! I guess you can't link directly from Webshots. The photo showed large for about 30 seconds before it disappeared... Sorry.

My original message:

Paul, per our earlier conversation, it is a little difficult to post images directly on the forum when they are hosted on webshots but it can be done.

Your webshots albums are great so I wouldn't even suggest you change it, although you might look at another source of free hosting just for photos you might want to post on the forum. We'll discuss it more privately if you are interested.

This is directly from your Webshots album, but it took me a while to find the correct code.

Dale,

Before I redid my previous photos I was not aware that I could change the pixel size, I changed them from 100 to 600, then clicked on Post in a Forum. I tried linking them but did not like how they turned out. I think they came our pretty good this time.

I had thought of going to a differant way of hosting them, but so far I will leave it this way for now. I did have a site at freewebs.com, but someone else wanted my domain name, I forgot to pay the fees and someone snatched it thinking that I would buy it back for big bucks, not gonna happen, so I let it go.

We'll see how this works out,

Paul
