Folks, I spend a lot of time trying to keep this board running and answering technical questions on the forum when I can contribute. It is important to me be a part of, and support in any way I can, a forum that contains an amazing amount of Eagle information.
We grow our information base through the threads on this forum where folks ask for help. By posting on this forum, you get the benefit of exposure to many folks who can offer advice/help. Even more important, you get the benefit of having the various replies vetted by other knowledgeable folks so that the best possible answer(s) evolve. Lastly, questions/comments can be viewed/searched by all readers/members of this forum.
Lately, several folks have tried to get technical advice via the "contact me" page. On that page I clearly (in big red print) state that the contact me page is ***only*** for discussion of communication problems on the forum. Those "contact me" forms come to me and I must take the time to respond to the person stating why we have a very strong policy of only addressing technical issues via this forum.
In the past two weeks I have had folks write directly to me to ask technical questions. Again, I must take the time to respond to the person.
Put simply, there is only one person administering this forum and it takes a lot of time and I am getting close to the burn-out stage. In the past, I tried to help anyone that contacted me, but I have had to make the decision that I can no longer do that.
It is easy (and free) to register for this forum: http://eaglesinternational.net/eagles-i ... c5e11552dd
I will always answer questions on this forum (if I can contribute).
Jim

Re: CORRECT WAY TO ASK FOR TECHNICAL HELP
I want to be very clear here; we **want** to have folks use this forum to ask questions, make comments, post pictures, document projects, etc.. That is why we set this website up.
Every post adds to our huge repository of good Eagle information. That information is available to any reader of this forum.

Re: CORRECT WAY TO ASK FOR TECHNICAL HELP
Thanks David
Truth be told, I am always hesitant to try to answer some of the questions off line (direct email). Like so many of us, I have some knowledge in some areas and "limited" knowledge in many areas (translated: don't know siccum).
I always feel comfortable giving an opinion on this forum, as I know that others will clarify/correct my answer if I mess up

Re: CORRECT WAY TO ASK FOR TECHNICAL HELP
I wanted to bring this to the top again. In the past few weeks, I have gotten several emails asking for help -- the last one asking me to call.
I really hate to have to say no to these inquires, but I simply don't have the time to be a one man "expert". Worse yet, I am far from an "expert".
I can usually squeeze in the time to answer questions on the forum -- where it will be of benefit to our members.
Thanks for the understanding.

Re: CORRECT WAY TO ASK FOR TECHNICAL HELP
Jim,
If it weren't for folks like you, there wouldn't be any of these boards. Thanks for your efforts.
I sympathize with you. After more than 20 years, I tend to avoid posting too. It seems that more and more folks are looking for validation of their beliefs rather than information or input. I find that many just want controversy and care nothing for experience of those that went before them.
It gets old.
Hell, I'm getting older too. Birthdays come a lot faster after 70 of them.
