Engine Hatch
Hello all, Iam getting ready to lay carpet in the Bus and when I removed the carpet in the bedroom I found a 4x3 removeable panel in the floor. Has anyone run into this before . I would like to keep it to where I can get to it with out tearing up the carpet . Any thoughts would be great . Thanks Andy

Re: Engine Hatch
That is the engine access cover. Normally it is under the bed if you have a queen bed back there. If you have doubles, I don't know how you keep the access to it.

Re: Engine Hatch
Well in our Bus the bed is backwards . At the very back of the coach is a closet with sliding door's. at the foot of the closet is where the hatch is at .

Re: Engine Hatch
Andy,
Are there two of them? I have two in my 01 and one over the radiator. Our Queen bed is over them, with a flip up mattress top so I can access whatever I need to. Believe me it has come in handy! When I broke down in Palm Springs on my way to TX I could access the top of the compressor real nice, all the plumbing and other stuff would have been hard to get to.
Make the carpet panel removeable so you can get to the top of the engine. You never know when you might have to access it.

Re: Engine Hatch
Andy, A freind of mine left his acess cover and covered them up with carpet and left the carpet loose so he could get at his motor. The only problem is the road and motor grime worked it's way up throgh the carpet. I would see if there is a way to seal them but be able to remove them if needed and then lay the carpet over them.
