I have a 754 Allison transmission for sale. Out of a Prevost w/8V92. Comes with modulator, mounts, dipstick, spin on filter and hoses, yoke and speedo drive. No flex plate. Will provide oil analysis. Will deliver anywhere in the Portland area or ship at your expense. $950.00
Contact Boomer. 541, nine nine three, two two two zero.

P.S. I also have the Allison technical data for this transmission, including the data pages for electronically modulating if someone wants to put it behind an electronic engine.

Mark, I forwarded the information to a buddy of mine in Vancouver WA. He's looking for an Allison for his MCI 102A3. He has an 8v92T with a 5 speed manual.

What's the difference between this one and a 74x?
What's a flex plate?

Thank you Paul. That would be convenient for both of us.

Julio, this is a 5 speed automatic transmission, HT754CR (close ratio) which is used in coaches. The flex plate transfers torque from the engine to the transmission. The parts consist of a crankshaft hub adaptor, the flexplates, a wearplate, the flywheel, torque converter, and transmission, in that order, front to back. In converting from standard trans to auto trans., the standard flywheel is removed and the above parts are installed. I do not have the hub adaptor, flexplate and wear plate, such parts can be obtained new or used.

When converting from manual to automatic a transmission cooler is required. There are several ways to go on this. Detroit Diesel has a double oil cooler that mounts right on the engine (6V and 8V engines)and cools both engine and transmission oil. There are also several good remote mount trans oil coolers available. On my coach I used a large Modine cooler, same one used on late model Prevosts.

Mark, thanks for your answer, now I know a little more about transmssions.

I also think like Dale, is a good deal but there are a lot of miles from here to your area. I like this one for the 01 but I don't know if one like this could be attached to a 8V71 or if needs a lot of modifications to do it.

How much could cost the parts you don't have?

Thanks

Julio I have not gathered any parts prices, you can do the research. My guess is that on the used market, the hub, flexplates and wear plate should run you around 250-700. They should be specified as to either a 71 or 92 because they are different. You would also need a transmission cooler and a shifter (I highly recommend a Stone-Bennett air shifter; last one I bought was $1,400.00, but a Morse manual shift lever & cable works fine too). There are lots of places to buy used parts, Nimco, Arizona Transmission, Pedco, B&B Coach, Tejas, etc.) The transmission will bolt up to an 8V71 in an 01, but you may have to do a valve body modification to reach the correct RPM shift points, which is no big deal to do, because this one is set for a 8V92.
Back 10 or 12 years ago when I had a bus company and did outside conversion work, I remember we quoted $10,000 for a manual to automatic conversion on a T drive coach (Eagle, MCI, Prevost). That was transmission, cooler, mounts, modulator, shifter, etc., all the parts including labor, but I was charging about 4-5 times what I want for this transmission, so this is a good deal if you can find somebody to treat you right on labor. Tejas Coach is pretty close to you, but I don't know anything about them. Maybe Clifford can chime in here. Heck, he may even do the work for you (when it cools down).

Dang! Wish I had taken that Stone-Bennett setup off the bus I salvaged a few months ago. I didn't get that much for the whole bus!
