Thanks Cliff.
Some folks on the other board seem to jump in and criticize folks no matter what. They have lost many many folks with a lot of knowledge about these coaches.

Wayne ,if your not having any problems with the relays wired the way you discribed, that's great.I was looking over my schematics for these lil buggers, cause I use them alot for various projects and Harley has used them from 1980-1999 as starter relays, and decided to put a cropped version of the schematic so you can see .

My book (my only reference to these relays)shows the opposite ,86 ground and 85 pos(bat)So like I noted earlier,If yours works fine right on no problemo, just thought I would mention this for GI,carry on . :) :)

Van, you are also right 85 and 86 are the coil that pulls the relay in. As long one is ground and one is positive it should work. If someones knows different please chime in.

Good Luck Wayne

On the normal Bosch type (made by lots of different companies) the coil does not care about polarity. So you can put 85 or 86 to ground.

However, if you buy the same relay with a diode built in (to address current inrush issues) then polarity is important. In that case you put 85 to ground and 86 to signal.
