I see on the BCM board that there is a post saying that the Quartzsite 2010 rally is being sponsored by Western GM, and that basically there will be some Eagles and Flex's there too. This isn't correct, is it? We are not guests of the GM club. It is my understanding that the three clubs decided to throw this gig together. The post on the BCM board also says that there is a $20 rally charge and parking is $5 per day. We have never done this before. I don't have an issue with the $12.50 charge for dinner but what is the rally charge for? And why the parking fee this year?

Dale, The 5 dollar fee is the same as last year. The 20 dollar fee is for the coffee and doughnuts and there will be a catered meal on friday nite. We have always been a guest of the GM group they ask us to combine with them 2 years ago. It has always been on the table if the club doesnot want to be with the GM and Flexible group we can move back to the site east of town.

Hey Wayne,

I'm not trying to be a firestarter. Just saying what came to my mind when I read that post on BCM. I admit that I didn't know about the rally fee and the parking fee last year since we stayed at the casino in Parker. My big beef here would be that the Eagles are a big draw to that little gathering. I was under the impression that we were a joint sponsor, not just guests. I know it is all in the wording but the way it is worded Eagles International doesn't actually have a rally at Quartzsite. We just show up and hang out with the GMs, and pay for the privilege of doing it. Personally, if I am going to pay to go to a rally, I would rather the money go to EI instead of some other club.

You know I am a club guy and will do anything to support what we are doing, but if I am totally honest, I liked it the old way better. Everyone got to park together, it was all Eagles, and it was FREE! haha... Granted, I have only been to Quartzsite twice but I thought it was a lot better two years ago than last year. There is just something about waking up and watching the sun come up over all those Eagles parked together... Hanging around the bonfire with other Eagle owners was pretty cool too!

Just my opinions. Not trying to cause trouble. The wording in that message just hit me wrong. It may have been because I misunderstood what we were doing. But it just seems wrong to me.

There wasn't a 20 dollar rally fee last year was it if so I owe Larry 20 bucks.
I guess Jerry Jeffferson likes us better than the rest he pays for our donuts and Wayne does the coffee.
The rally is not a bad deal it is just that I don't like suprises that comes with age LOL you guys have a good time.

Hi all, same here! Maybe I am not understanding the situation regarding the last Q rally and this upcoming rally. Did something change? as you all recall Cheryl and I did not become members until we finally got to the rally. I too thought that EI were co-sponsors of the event.and this year EI was not even menyioned in Larry's post on the BCM, only mentioned that there would be an Eagle or two present.Did we just get blown off?Maybe a simple yet thorough explanation would be in order to get the facts straight,so no one is left in the dark and gets the wrong impression :?

Hi folks. Lets go into a "holding" mode until we get some clarification. I posted the following comments to Larry Hall's announcement:

>>>>>post on Bus Conversion bulletin board>>>>>>

I really hope I don't step on any toes here.

Written communication is fraught with problems.

Here is the problem. Eagles International has their formal annual meeting in Quartzsite. That is part of the bylaws. They have had their rally in Quartzsite for many years and the members really look forward to the very relaxed event.

Last year we agreed to a ***JOINT*** rally with the GM and Flxible groups. It was a ton of fun!!!

The way that this announcement reads is that it is no longer a JOINT rally. I doubt that Larry intended his announcement to sound that way, but it has a few of our members a bit agitated.

Jim

>>>>>>end paste of post>>>>

Lets see how this all washes out before we get more upset than some of us already are.

Dale, No fire here and I can't say you are wrong in your thoughts. That's why I said we have meeting to voice your mind in these matters. Larry has always taken care of all the matters of the rally. It was first presented to me as a joint rally and he passes everything by me. The things that have been proposed so far I have went along with. The parking fees have not changed. We always take up donations to pay for the coffe and doughnuts, this way it just gets done. There were a few complaints about there not being enough food at the pot luck last year so we fixed that by catering a 12 dollar and 50 cent meal. We decided if there was any money left over we would split it amoung the clubs. I suggest we go back to are old site next year if that's what the club wants. Maybe two years of having a combined rally is enough.

Thank You Wayne
