Some days I hate this bus... Some days I love it! You too??

This is the place to tell about all the cool places your Eagle takes you. Hopefully there will be lots of great pictures that will help us all plan future trips.

Some days I hate this bus... Some days I love it! You too??

Post by TexasBorderDude »

Yesterday was a real hate 'er. I just fueled up and left Rawlins, Wy. I-80 was down to a single lane when everything just shut down. Ran over the safety cones, but got over into the re-paved lane and clear of traffic. Tore a hunk of skin off my rt. pointer knuckle cracking open the fuel line going into the rack, but had fuel when cranked so I ruled out the fuel pump. The skinner valve on the shutdown had failed and shut the rack down. I'm loosing my compressor as there is lots of oil in my air tanks. Guess it got fouled up with the oil and shut down. Anyway I got the air line off and limped in to Cheyenne. Just in time to see a convoy going West escorted by armed Humvee's and all the on and off ramps closed in advance. The truck had a van that was painted, but I couldn't make it out. Must've been hauling nuclear fuel or bombs!

Today was another story. Made 460 pretty painless miles from Cheyenne on i-80 to North Platte then down US 83 to Garden City Kansas. Drove 63-65 all day 'cept for just a few hills, and scored 6.987 mpg! Wow! The old girl ran great with just a little black smoke to let me know she had some more umph left. Today was a real joy.

Have fun!
